Who we are
SeruLabs is a business based in Kenya, run by its founder, Emmanuel Seru Shikoli. We’re building an AI agent to help internet service providers find and fix network problems. For anything about your personal data, email hello@serulabs.com.
What this policy covers
This policy covers this website and the messages you send us through it. When SeruLabs runs a pilot or service for an ISP, we handle that ISP’s network and customer data on its behalf under a written data processing agreement, and that agreement sets the rules for that data.
What we collect
- When you send a pilot request or email us: the details you choose to give, such as your name, your ISP’s name, your town, your phone number, your email address and what you tell us about your network.
- When you message us on WhatsApp: your phone number, your WhatsApp profile name and your messages.
- When you visit the site: Cloudflare, which hosts it, processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t follow you to other websites.
We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie to protect the site from abuse.
Why we use it
To reply to you, to discuss and arrange pilots, to understand how many people visit the site, and to keep the site secure. We rely on your consent when you contact us, and on our legitimate interest in running and protecting the site.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your data. We use a few service providers to run SeruLabs:
- Cloudflare: website hosting, security and visit counts
- Zoho Mail: our email
- WhatsApp, operated by Meta: if you message us there
These providers may process data outside Kenya. Where they do, we rely on their data protection commitments, as Kenya’s Data Protection Act, 2019 requires.
How long we keep it
We keep pilot requests, emails and messages for up to 12 months after our last contact, unless we start working together, in which case our agreement sets the period. Visit counts are kept only as totals.
Your rights
Under Kenya’s Data Protection Act, 2019, you have the right to:
- be told how your personal data is used
- see the personal data we hold about you
- have data that’s wrong or misleading corrected
- ask us to delete your data
- object to us using it
- receive a copy of it in a format you can reuse, where the law allows
To use any of these rights, email hello@serulabs.com. We’ll respond within the time the law requires.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner at odpc.go.ke.
Security
This website is only served over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to our email and WhatsApp accounts is limited to the founder.
Children
This site is for businesses. It isn’t aimed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect children’s personal data.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
